At this time of year, every house is a busy house. Shopping, cleaning, wrapping, baking; at least with that I can help. I've discovered these easy Christmas Rice Krispies Reindeer Treats are perfect for non-bakers. And best of all, this recipe requires little time and minimal clean-up.

During the holidays I am very envious of all you spectacular cookie decorators, and fancy cake makers. I can’t do it. I’ve tried. This holiday treat is cute, requires minimal skill, and features Rice Krispies Treats, a favorite with my kids.

I made this on a Sunday evening for a cookie exchange at the office. The reindeer are cut from prepared Rice Krispies squares. And the decorating was quick and easy with a tube of icing!

Easy Rice Krispies Reindeer Treats

Prep time: 45 mins (includes preparing Rice Krispies Cake)

16 servings

Ingredients

For the Rice Krispies Treats

  • 1/4 cup margarine or butter

  • 5 cups miniature (or 40 regular)marshmallows

  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal

Preparation

  1. In a large saucepan melt butter over low heat

  2. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

  3. Stir in vanilla. Add Rice Krispies. Stir until well coated.

  4. Using a buttered spatula to avoid sticking, press mixture into a 13x9 inch buttered pan.

  5. Cool and cut into bars.

For Decorating

Ingredients

  • 4.25 oz tube of Wilton white decorating icing

  • 32 eye candies (found at bulk store)

  • 32 chocolate covered pretzels

  • 16 M&Ms for the nose ( I chose red and green)

Reindeer Prep

  1. Cut your Rice Krispies Treats into 8 rectangles about 4.5x3.25 inches each

  2. Cut the rectangles diagonally to make triangles

  3. Add a drop of icing to secure the chocolate covered pretzels as antlers

  4. Add a drop of icing to secure each eye

  5. At the point of your triangle, add a drop of icing and secure the M&M nose.

Enjoy!

(See? I told you it was easy)
